{"id":2259,"date":"2017-08-28T10:40:08","date_gmt":"2017-08-28T09:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vinacroatia.hr\/?page_id=2259&#038;lang=en"},"modified":"2018-03-02T09:47:27","modified_gmt":"2018-03-02T08:47:27","slug":"primorska-hrvatska","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/vinacroatia.hr\/en\/croatian-vines\/primorska-hrvatska\/","title":{"rendered":"Coastal Croatia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Croatian coastal region consists of three major regions, five sub-regions and 31 vine growing hills:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2260\" src=\"https:\/\/vinacroatia.hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/map_costal_croatia-220x218.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"368\" \/>\u2022 Istria<br \/>\n\u2022 Hrvatsko primorje or Croatian Littoral<br \/>\n\u2022 Dalmatia, consisting of:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">\u2013 Northern Dalmatia<br \/>\n\u2013 Central and Southern Dalmatia<br \/>\n\u2013Dalmatinska Zagora (Dalmatian Hinterland)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When compared with the Istrian peninsula, Croatian Littoral and Dalmatian Hinterland,<br \/>\nDalmatia is significantly warmer, due to the proximity of the Adriatic Sea, the high hills of the<br \/>\nIstrian hinterland and mainly to the highest Croatian mountain range, the Dinara, situated in<br \/>\nthe hinterland of Dalmatian Zagora. Therefore, vine varieties from these regions vary widely. As<br \/>\nopposed to continental Croatia, local vine varieties have been predominantly grown along the<br \/>\ncoast, whilst international vine varieties were first introduced some 25 years ago. Dalmatia, as<br \/>\nthe warmest area of the coastal region, produces stronger wines, with a higher degree of alcohol<br \/>\nand also a lower level of acidity.
